Pomaru Labs hello@pomarulabs.com

Small companions that sit beside you while you work.

Pomaru Labs is a one-person studio in South Korea. There are two companions so far: Poko, a robot pet that keeps you focused, and Maru, an assistant built on Claude that you talk to in Discord.

Time left 25:00

A small demo of Poko. With no timer running it wanders along the desk, and you can pick it up and move it. Start focus and it stays put with the time left on its face.

Poko keeps you company while you study

Poko is a small robot that lives on top of your Windows desktop. Start a focus session and Poko settles down with a book and the time left on its face. Every focused minute earns XP and raises your level.

The XP is honest in both directions. Bring up a window that is not on your list for the current study mode and Poko warns you. Fix it within ten seconds and nothing happens; leave it and Poko sulks while your XP, and eventually your level, goes back down.

  • 25-minute sessions in sets of four, with 5-minute breaks and a 15-minute long break, all adjustable
  • +10 XP per focused minute, +50 for a clean session, −20 per minute of distraction
  • Each study mode has its own allowed apps and blocked window-title keywords
  • A "this is studying" button allows an app for the current session only
  • Daily and weekly stats, kept only on your own PC

Working, not released. Version 0.1.0 for Windows, built with Claude Code. Not available for download yet. Planned: a Poko you can talk to and play with, powered by the Claude API.

An example of asking MaruTranslated from Korean
  1. You

I'm starting a new project called Poko 2. Set up a place for it.

  2. Maru

Here's the plan: a Poko 2 category with channels for notes, tasks and decisions. Nothing changes until you approve it.

    Approve
  3. You

    Approved

And remind me at six to write the first spec.

  4. Maru

The Poko 2 category is up. Reminder set for 6:00 PM, in 3 hours.

Maru is a Discord assistant you talk to in plain words

Today Maru lives in one private Discord server and works for one person. There is no command syntax to learn. Say what you need, whether it's a reminder, a to-do with a deadline, a calendar event or a new channel, and Maru takes care of it.

  • Reminders, to-dos with deadline alerts, Google Calendar and the class timetable in one place
  • A briefing every morning at 8 and a journal of the day every night
  • Finds earlier conversations and links back to the original messages
  • Keeps ideas, decisions and long-term memory, and drafts specs from idea threads
  • Reorganizes the server on request, but only after you approve the plan

Claude handles the understanding, judgment and writing. Anything that has to be exactly right or is hard to undo, like class dates, deadline alerts and server changes, is done by plain code.

Live, private. Running around the clock since October 2026 on Claude Opus 5.5 through the Claude Agent SDK, with 41 tools of its own. Next: opening Maru up to other people, running on the Claude API.

Where things stand

Pomaru Labs started in 2026 and is run by one developer. Both companions are working software built with Claude Code. Maru has run every day since early October 2026 as its maker's own assistant, and Poko 0.1.0 runs on Windows.

Neither is open to the public yet. The current work is turning Maru from a one-person assistant into one anyone can use. To get in touch, write to hello@pomarulabs.com.
